Sticky Rice Puerh – Ripe Puerh with Nuo Mi Xiang

A longtime customer favorite, Sticky Rice Puerh is made from ripe, or shou, puerh scented with Nuo Mi Xiang, an aromatic Chinese herb known for its distinctive sticky rice fragrance. The result is earthy, savory, and remarkably smooth, with the cozy aroma of steamed rice layered into the deep character of dark puerh tea.

Ripe puerh is made through a carefully managed fermentation process that transforms sun-dried tea leaves into a rich, dark, full-bodied brew. In this tea, that earthy depth is softened by the warm, grain-like fragrance of Nuo Mi Xiang, creating a cup that feels both grounding and satisfying.

Excellent after a hearty meal, paired with food, or enjoyed on its own, Sticky Rice Puerh is a deeply flavorful tea with a loyal following.

Flavor Profile

Earthy, savory, and smooth with notes of steamed rice, mushrooms, and damp forest floor.

Ingredients

Ripe (Shou) Chinese Puerh Tea, “Rice-Scent Herb” (Nuo Mi Xiang).

Brewing Instructions

16 oz Cup

  1. Place 1 unwrapped tuocha into infuser.
  2. Pour 16 oz. of hot water (195° F to boiling) over the tuocha.
  3. Steep for 3-10 minutes, depending on desired brew strength, then remove tea leaves.
  4. Remove infuser and enjoy tea. Can be steeped three or more times.

Puerh teas can be brewed multiple times. Re-steep the same leaves, gradually increasing the infusion time until the leaves no longer yield a full flavor.

Potful

Simply add to your infuser one unwrapped tuocha per 16 oz. of water and place it in your pot, then add the appropriate amount of 195°-to-boiling water and let it steep for 3 to 10 minutes. Remove the infuser and enjoy. Can be steeped three or more times.

Brewing Iced Tea

Though we don't necessarily recommend drinking Sticky Rice Scented Mini Tuocha iced, our opinion is that a cooled concentrate works best, as regular-strength brew tends to become watery as the ice melts. So, use the above leaf quantities, but half the water, allow it to cool, then pour it over ice and enjoy! The brew will dilute down to proper strength as the ice melts.
