The Jasmine Pearl welcomes our first ever Japanese black tea, this one blended with yuzu rind. This Japanese black tea is naturally sweet and very smooth with a round mouthfeel and no astringency. In this blend, it is warmly complemented by the yuzu lemon-grapefruit citrus finish. Yuzu is a Japanese citrus lemon that is valued for its highly aromatic rind. Although this citron doesn't contain much liquid, its zest and juice are used in perfumes, vinegars, syrups, and as a souring ingredient that stands up well to heat in cooking. Another iced pleasure!
Ingredients
Japanese Black Tea (from the Benifuki cultivar), Yuzu Citrus Fruit Peel. Both ingredients grown by Konishi-san, a small tea farmer in Shizuoka, Japan.
Brewing Instructions
8 oz Cup
- Scoop a level teaspoon of tea into infuser.
- Heat water to 185° F.
- Pour 8 oz. of water over tea leaves.
- Steep tea for 3-5 minutes (depending on taste preference).
- Remove infuser and enjoy tea.
Potful
Simply add to your infuser one level teaspoon of leaf per 8 oz. of water and place it in your pot, then add the appropriate amount of 185° F water and let it steep for 3 to 5 minutes. Remove the infuser and enjoy.
Brewing Iced Tea
Our opinion is that a cooled concentrate works best, as regular-strength brew tends to become watery as the ice melts. So, use the above leaf quantities, but half the water, allow it to cool, then pour it over ice and enjoy! The brew will dilute down to proper strength as the ice melts.
