2024 Batch of Tsuyuhikari

We are pleased to offer the latest 2024 batch of Tsuyuhikari, a single-origin tea that has been well-loved over the years by our customers. "Tsuyuhikari," which translates to "shining dew," is a pure tea, made entirely from the Tsuyuhikari hybrid varietal. This unblended tea showcases the full character of the cultivar, carefully grown and hand-plucked by Konishi-san, a small tea farmer in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan.

Origin & Production
Tsuyuhikari is a single-provenance tea that reflects the multi-generation tea-growing traditions of the Konishi family. Grown in the lush, mountainous region of Kawanehon, this tea is made using only the young buds from the first flush of the season. The careful cultivation and harvesting of this tea ensure that its unique characteristics are fully preserved, providing an authentic and consistent taste experience.

Tasting Notes
Tsuyuhikari offers a sweet, savory taste with a refreshing, oceanic quality. The tea's bright, vegetal notes are complemented by subtle aromas of seaweed and a salty breeze reminiscent of summer coastal shores. The smooth, rich body of this tea creates a mouthwatering, umami experience, making it a perfect choice for those who enjoy both the depth and lightness of high-quality Japanese green teas.

Perfect Pairings & Enjoyment
Enjoy Tsuyuhikari on its own or paired with light, savory foods such as sushi, fresh salads, or steamed vegetables. Its sweet, salty aroma and crisp, clean finish make it a versatile tea for any time of day. Whether hot or iced, Tsuyuhikari promises a refreshing and satisfying cup with every brew, highlighting the best of what the Tsuyuhikari varietal has to offer.!

Ingredients

Hand-plucked young buds of single provenance from the cultivar of the same name, grown by Konishi-san, a small tea farmer in Shizuoka, Japan.

Brewing Instructions

8 oz cup

  1. Scoop a level teaspoon of tea into infuser.
  2. Heat water to 175° F.
  3. Pour 8 oz. of water over tea leaves.
  4. Steep tea for 2-3 minutes (depending on taste preference).
  5. Remove infuser and enjoy tea. Can be steeped multiple times.

Potful

Simply add to your infuser one level teaspoon of leaf per 8 oz. of water and place it in your pot, then add the appropriate amount of 175° F water and let it steep for 2 to 3 minutes. Remove the infuser and enjoy. Can be steeped multiple times.

Brewing Iced Tea

As with some of our other extremely fine loose-leaf teas, we do not recommend drinking Tsuyuhikari over ice.
