Hanayaka Harunonagori
Hand-plucked and produced in an extremely small batch, Hanayaka Harunonagori is a rare tea whose name translates to “a brilliant remembrance of spring.” Floral, bright, and deeply aromatic, it captures the fleeting beauty of the season in each cup.

Origin & Production
Hanayaka Harunonagori is crafted by the Konishi family, tea artisans from Kawanehon in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, who have been producing small-batch teas for generations.

Tasting Notes
Hanayaka Harunonagori is an intensely aromatic tea with a lush floral character and a bright, lingering finish. The aroma opens with gardenia and fresh green notes, followed by tropical florals reminiscent of plumeria and ti leaf. In the cup, those floral notes are balanced by savory, toasted flavors of barley, popcorn, tahini, and dry leaves. A subtle musky quality adds depth beneath the brighter aromatics. The finish is especially expressive, with a full, perfumed mouth aroma and pronounced huigan, or returning sweetness, that continues long after each sip. A gentle astringency gives the tea structure and keeps its rich floral character feeling lively and clean.

Perfect Pairings & Enjoyment
This singular tea pairs well with both sweet and salty treats. We recommend sesame cookies, tropical fruit, mochi, and lightly salted popcorn or rice cakes.

  2. Heat water to 175° F.
  3. Pour 8 oz. of water over tea leaves.
  4. Steep tea for 2-3 minutes (depending on taste preference).
  5. Remove infuser and enjoy tea. Can be steeped multiple times.

Brewing Iced Tea

As with some of our other extremely fine loose-leaf teas, we do not recommend drinking Hanayaka Harunonagori over ice. However, it is excellent when cold-brewed overnight in the refrigerator!
