This exceptional white tea from the Kanchanjangha region of Nepal is both delicate and richly layered. Named in honor of Deepak Prakash Baskota, founder of Nepal’s first organic tea estate, this tea is a tribute to legacy, craftsmanship, and the quiet elegance of high mountain tea.
Unlike typical white teas, Prakash undergoes a subtle, oolong-style rolling process that enhances its aroma and flavor. The result is a brew that’s buttery, floral, and full-bodied—an experience far more nuanced than standard bulk white teas. Its clean clarity in the cup and creamy, toasted grain character make it a standout for both hot and cold brewing.
Flavor Profile
Toasted grain and spun sugar with notes of corn silk, plum skin, buttercream, white florals, and honey. Rounded and aromatic with a silky, satisfying mouthfeel.
Origin
Grown at altitudes between 1300 and 1800 meters (4,200–6,000 ft) in the Himalayan foothills near Mt. Kanchanjangha, this tea comes from Nepal’s first certified organic tea garden, Kanchanjangha Tea Estate and Research Centre. Founded in 1984 as a social enterprise, KTERC was established to eliminate poverty in the rural eastern region of Nepal. The tea garden operates as a cooperative, prioritizing community and ecological sustainability.
Crafted with care and subtle innovation, the leaves are handpicked in the spring, gently withered, and lightly rolled to release essential oils and preserve the tea’s vibrant floral aroma. The result is a white tea with oolong-like depth, celebrated for its complexity and elegance.
