Staff Favorites: Burk & Lady Grey

A commonly asked question here at the shop is “What tea is your favorite?” But that question can be hard to answer as it seems to change with the weather, one's mood, or even what someone ate for breakfast. In this new series of blog posts we have asked our staff here at the Jasmine Pearl that question. Over the next few months we’ll post their answers here. Who knows, maybe you’ll find a new tea to try!

This month we asked Burk what his pick is. Burk works in our Retail Department as the Head Retail Manager. Burk’s pick of the month is Dame Grey!

Why do you like it?
B: It's a take on a classic black tea but the flavor brightens with the added citrus. It's like me, classic but a little more fun.

How do you brew it?

B: My favorite way would be doing a cold brew. I put the leaves into a mason jar overnight in the refrigerator so it's cold and ready to go in the morning.

Does it remind you of anything?
B: When I was a child, my mom would make sun tea and put lemons & oranges in it. It's a warm, sweet, citrusy memory.

Is it particular to this season?
B: Definitely, I drink it much more in the summer. I actually had it this morning!

How does this tea make you feel?
B: It makes me feel happy & light on a relaxing summer day.

Does this tea help you do something?
B: Relax. It's a calming flavor for me.

Do you pair food with this tea?
B: Good ol' fashioned BBQ, or any kind of summer, picnic type foods.

Our Dame Grey blend is a twist on our classic Earl Grey with a fruity boost of orange zest and lemon myrtle. Makes an uplifting tea served hot or a refreshing citrus iced tea. Traditionally, Earl Grey is made with black tea as a base - we use Chinese Keemun (Qimen), from the Anhui Province in east-central China, and Ceylon, from the major tea-producing island of Sri Lanka.
